Taking Charge Of Your Fitness With Super Foods Nutrition
I have always been one of those folks that likes to make sacrifices to be "healthy." You figure an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
Although I haven't ever had any major health issues, I know that diet and exercise play a critical role in helping us maintain our wellness and increase our functional lifespan.
I have always enjoyed sports and been active, kept my weight in check, and have always gotten a good health record from the doctor annually. Everything seemed fine.
But now I've started reading a book called "The China Study" which is actually making me reconsider the "diet" portion of the "good health" equation and wonder if I'm on the right track to good health.
According to the China Study, which is an excellent, articulate research-based book referencing over 700 scientific studies, animal protein, including eggs, milk and animal protein isn't the cure for good health and muscle-growth that we have all been taught. I was completely stunned to learn that skim milk isn't a super-food when it comes to robust bones, teeth and muscles. In fact, the writer is compelled to decide that - much to his disappointment since he grew up on a dairy farm - a diet free from animal protein is truly optimal for augmenting our health and reducing the signs of aging.
The China Study book suggests a vegan diet rich in unprocessed plant-based foods.
Many supporters to this philosophy take this approach a step further and target eating raw plant foods, forgoing stuff like rice, barley, pasta, etc.
One of the toughest issues to preparing and eating a large amount of plants is that it can just plain take a very long time. Particularly once you begin to look at incorporating vegetables like lettuce, spinach, kale, and celery - greens that are vital to our growth.
Making juice out of your fruits and fruit with the Breville Juice Fountain Elite is a good way to combine your fruits and fruit into a fresh, nutritious and tasty beverage that may guarantee you get all the nourishment you want, even if you are on the go.
Consider recipes like carrot-apple-ginger juice or blueberry, strawberry, grape and kale juice. Green smoothies made with bananas and spinach are a favourite raw-food vegan classic - the fruit is inexpensive, the taste is great and it's vitamin-packed!
If you've got a regular blender ( for making margaritas!), or perhaps a name-brand juicer like Jack LaLanne's from Television , you will find that they do not hold up to regular juicing, they're tough juicing, they are tough to use because they are under powered, or they just don't clean-up well.
Get a juicer that solves all these problems. The juicer even does a pleasant job with leafy or stringy products like lettuce and celery. Including veggies like this in your juice will actually increase their nutritional value.
If you are prepared to make some changes in your diet - begin with including more fruits and veg. Like the Omnivore's Dilemma advocates - Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants.
Start with delicious juice from local organic produce made with a high-quality juice fountain.
